Events in Vorarlberg

Vorarlberg is small but dense: Lake Constance to the west, the Arlberg to the east, and in between a scene built around the Bregenz festival stage in summer and ski tourism in winter.

The Bregenz Festival (July/August) on the floating lake stage is part of music theatre's world heritage — it is the flagship that puts Bregenz on the event map far beyond Austria. Dornbirn and Feldkirch add their own smaller subscenes with the Poolbar Festival, the Conrad Sohm club and the Spielboden. The Arlberg (Lech, Zürs, St. Anton — the latter borders Tyrol) is Austria's most exclusive ski region with its own event calendar from ski openings to Tanzcafé Arlberg. In the Montafon, the Bregenzerwald and the Walgau, traditional customs such as bonfire nights and the ceremonial cattle drives live on.

Insider tip: The Poolbar Festival in Feldkirch (July, Alte Bürgermühle) is one of the most lovable mid-sized culture spots in western Austria — combining club acts, literature and exhibitions.
