Events in Lower Austria
16400 events
Lower Austria is the largest state in Austria by area — and its event landscape is just as spread out.
Between Krems on the Danube, the Weinviertel, the Wachau and the Industrieviertel in the south lie entire worlds. The Wachau revolves around wine festivals (the apricot fair in Spitz, the wine harvest festival in Retz), classical music (Grafenegg, Schallaburg) and boat events on the Danube. The Weinviertel has Austria's densest network of church fairs — almost every weekend there is a village festival with brass music somewhere. The Industrieviertel around Wiener Neustadt and Baden brings larger concert halls and musical productions. Lower Austria has no metropolis of its own, but many small and mid-sized towns with their own cultural pulse: Krems, St. Pölten, Klosterneuburg, Wiener Neustadt, Amstetten.
Insider tip: Wachau summer: the apricot festival in Spitz, the open-air Danube cinema in Krems, and the Grafenegg classical season. In late summer all three overlap — book tickets six or more weeks ahead.
