Events in Salzburg

Culturally, Salzburg is split in two: the festival city in summer, and the alpine event region around Zell am See, Saalbach and the Pinzgau for the rest of the year.

The Salzburg Festival (late July to late August) is the international flagship — six weeks of opera, drama and concerts that turn the city upside down. Outside of that, Salzburg runs as a classic tourism destination: Mozart concerts almost daily, Krampus runs in Advent, Rauhnächte traditions in Werfen and the Lungau. In parallel, the Gastein valley and the area around Zell am See-Kaprun are event hubs for ski tourism in winter and trail-running events in summer. ARGEkultur and the Rockhouse in the city of Salzburg keep the indie and concert scene going all year round.
