Events in Vienna

Vienna is Austria's event capital, and not just because of its size — it is the density of subcultures you will not find anywhere else in the country.

Between a Philharmonic concert at the Musikverein and a techno night at Grelle Forelle or Flex lie all of ten metro stops. Vienna runs in parallel: an international classical scene (Musikverein, Konzerthaus, State Opera), a club and rave scene with Resident Advisor reach (Flex, Fluc, Volksgarten, Pratersauna, Werk), more than 200 theatre and cabaret stages, and one of the largest Christmas-market clusters in Europe. Add the student scene around WU, TU, the University of Vienna and BOKU, open-air events in the Prater and on the Danube Island, and a ball season from November to carnival that is unmatched in Austria.

Insider tip: For the densest club programme, try Thursdays — many Viennese labels use the start of the week for resident nights with cheaper entry and better chances at the door.
