READING »Es blieb nur die Flucht« On Thursday, September 24, 2026, the SKRIBO Joh.Haas bookstore at Wels city square will become a venue for a literary exploration: At 7:00 PM, Stefan Reichhart will read from his biographical novel «Es blieb nur die Flucht» — precisely in the rooms where his grandfather Josef «Sepp» Reichardt trained as a typesetter at the then Haas printing house in the early 1930s. The novel narrates, based on true events, the story of his two grandfathers on opposite sides of the dictatorship: The young Wels native Sepp passionately fought for the «Anschluss» (annexation) and later worked for the military secret service of the Nazi regime. The strictly Catholic Rhinelander Paul, on the other hand, secretly printed leaflets against the rule of the «brown drummer» (Nazi), and eventually had to flee with his family from the Gestapo.
