Wels, Upper Austria
Most of Wels' arcaded courtyards are unfortunately not accessible. However, one of the most interesting is undoubtedly the Haas-Hof. In the second half of the 16th century, the magnificent, elongated, two-story columned arcaded courtyard was built here. The narrow arcades extend over three sides of the courtyard and are extended like a bay window in the southwest corner. During this time, some Wels merchants maintained lively contacts with Italy and also tried to import a little southern flair. With its summer floral decorations, it is considered one of the most beautiful arcaded courtyards in the city, despite its connection with the requirements of a modern commercial building.A very pretty arcaded courtyard - a successful symbiosis of tradition and modernity - can be visited through the entrance of the shop window passage or from Schmidtgasse. Further arcaded courtyards can be found in the houses Schmidtgasse 25 (Wiener Fererhofer), Stadtplatz 18 (Trachten Feichtinger), Stadtplatz 52 (restaurant "Psst"), Stadtplatz 62 (Kremsmünstererhof).
