Welser Metzen

A copy of the "Welser Metzen" is displayed at the corner of Schmidtgasse/Stadtplatz; the original is located in the Burgmuseum. The marble bowl was the standard measure (approx. 75 liters) used for measuring grain. The great importance of the Wels grain market at that time is also evident from the fact that the measure of the Welser Metzen had significance and validity far beyond the city limits.
