Arabella

What's it about?

When the curtain rises at the Stadttheater Greif for the opera "Arabella" by Richard Strauss, after the libretto by Hugo von Hofmannsthal, a distinctive magic unfolds between waltz bliss, Viennese elegance, fine irony, and sensitivity. Richard Strauss’s music depicts that shimmering in-between zone where longing, doubt, and hope for the one true encounter meet. The special charm of the opera "ARABELLA" lies in the unique mixture of Viennese atmosphere, psychological depth, enchanting music, and a touching love story that is reduced to the essentials. The opera, which premiered in 1933, is often seen as a wistful farewell to old Vienna. The ensemble Dream Opera combines classical staging, historical aesthetics, and lively musical interpretation.
