The Stadttheater is used for theater and concert events, art house cinema, presentations, and representative cultural and social occasions. The atmospheric auditorium offers space for 586 people in the stalls, balcony, gallery, and boxes. All seats are directly oriented towards the stage. In the elevated areas of the 6th, 8th, and 10th rows of the stalls, an unobstructed view is guaranteed for all spectators. History: The previous theater building on the east side of Kaiser-Josef-Platz was no longer considered suitable after a small fire occurred in 1903. Due to public awareness raised by the Ringtheater fire, a decision was made to relocate. The member of the municipal committee responsible for the theater resigned in protest against the conditions in the stage area, whereupon Mayor Dr. Schauer closed the old theater. Within a very short time, it was decided to move into the festival and concert hall of the Hotel zum Greifen, which was then the leading establishment on the square, and to convert the hall into a theater hall in record time. In 1916, plans for a further conversion into a representative theater with 1,200 seats were discussed, but the project was never realized, and it remained a partially listed hall with 620 seats.
