What's it about?

Justina Lee Brown is an award-winning Nigerian Afro, Funk, Soul, and Blues singer and songwriter living in Europe, as well as a versatile entertainer. Born and raised in the slums of Ajegunle and Kirirki in Lagos, Nigeria, the story of Justina Lee Brown, whose full name is Justina Ogunlolu, is an inspiring true story about turning lemons into lemonade. Justina started singing on the street as a child to pass the time, helping her mother sell "ice water" at the nearby Udoh Market in Lagos. People quickly took notice of her and offered tips to encourage her to keep going. Knowing that her voice made passing strangers happy filled her with joy and gave her a sense of purpose, which led her to express her feelings through music. In 2006, the singer won first place at Nokia's First Chance reality singing competition in Nigeria. That same year, Justina took her first step toward fame with the release of her hit single "Omo 2 Sexy." Her fame soon extended beyond Nigeria's thriving music scene, and the young pop star won the 2009 Women In Entertainment Award in London as the "Best African Voice." Over the years, with two solid studio albums in her discography, "Black And White Feeling" and "Lost Child," Lee Brown and her high-profile band have received an impressive list of awards. She won the 2019 Swiss Blues Challenge, reached the semi-finals of the 2020 International Blues Challenge in Memphis, USA, and in 2022, placed second for Switzerland at the European Blues Challenge in Malmö, Sweden. She was also nominated for the Swiss Blues Awards 2022 and performed that same year as the opening act for Italian singer, songwriter, and musician Zucchero at the Sierre Blues Festival in front of around 40,000 spectators. In 2023, she became an ambassador for the Sierre Blues Festival. Recently, she was awarded the Swiss Blues Award 2024. This includes her remarkable performance at the Blues n Jazz Festival in Rapperswil (Switzerland) in 2023, where she performed in front of more than 60,000 spectators and became one of the highlights of the event.
