Woman. Other. Iconic portraits of women from Matisse to Alex Katz," the Kunsthaus Gmünd celebrates women and dedicates itself to one of the central themes of art history. It features a diverse and high-caliber selection of prints and selected sculptures that reveal female images of the 20th and 21st centuries in all their facets. The exhibition centers around major names of modern and contemporary art: Henri Matisse, Pablo Picasso, Louise Bourgeois, Alex Katz, and Julian Opie serve as prominent focal points. Matisse’s famous dancers, depicted in simplified forms and flowing motion, symbolize freedom, rhythm, and joy of life. Picasso’s graphic works revolve around muses and lovers — images that explore the complex relationships and emotions involved. Opening hours: May 1 to October 4, 2026. The exhibition is open daily from 10:00 am to 1:00 pm and 2:00 pm to 6:00 pm. We are happy to open the exhibition earlier upon request, starting at 8:00 am.
