PRIDE

What's it about?

PRIDE Director: Matthew Warchus, United Kingdom 2014, feature film, 120 minutes Thu, November 5, 7:00 PM England in summer 1984: Amid the miners' strike, a group of gay and lesbian activists from London decide to support the families of striking miners in a Welsh village. Under the name "Lesbians and Gays Support the Miners," they collect donations and eventually travel to Wales themselves. There, two very different worlds meet — initially causing misunderstandings on both sides. However, through these unfamiliar encounters, understanding, respect, and unexpected friendships gradually develop. Together, the new allies confront societal prejudices and the political challenges of their time. With wit, charm, and a lot of heart, "Pride" tells the true story of an extraordinary solidarity movement that shows how people can come together across cultural and social boundaries.
