There's something that just flows through me": This is how pianist Gabriela Montero once answered the question of how she manages to inspire audiences at her concerts with large-scale improvisations, whose musical themes were called out or sung to her from the audience just seconds before. Of course: born in Caracas, Venezuela in 1970, she first performed publicly at the age of 5, made her orchestral debut at 8, and by 12, via a scholarship in the USA, had already won renowned piano competitions. Music from her homeland, the melting pot of South and North America, but also a strong social conscience and political awareness, all this and more made Gabriela Montero a celebrated, unique individualist worldwide. Thus, at HERBSTGOLD, she will once again demonstrate the full range of her musical interests and abilities – to the delight of the audience.
