Discovery Walk through the Market Weyer

What's it about?

As part of the rehab guest program, a market walk through Market Weyer takes place. In the 15th and 16th centuries, the Golden Market (Güldene Märktl) Weyer in the iron industry was of similar importance as the iron city Steyr. In subsequent years, the town established itself mainly in wood processing and as a noble summer retreat. The once Golden Market Weyer – a vibrant center of iron transport – has a storied history. Marked by the Turkish siege, fires, Reformation and Counter-Reformation, and by the hammer lord families, their traces are still clearly visible in the townscape today.
