Italienische Nacht
What's it about?
The Thuk Ensemble performs: "Italienische Nacht" by Ödön v. Horváth. Finally, the "Italienische Nacht" is here! Mrs. City Council has been looking forward to music and dance, wine and art enjoyment with her democratic workers' association for weeks. But even before everyone gathers under colorful lanterns, a very different disturbing music is heard from the street. And then, Kamerad Martin calls for a boycott of the beautiful celebration. The bitterly satirical comedy presents a panorama of curious characters dancing in the warm summer night and mocks both political ideals and personal power ambitions. The question remains unanswered whether the democratic republic can still sleep peacefully. Incredibly, this very topical piece was premiered as early as 1931. Advance booking through Theater in der Kurve and the Quodlibet bookstore.
