Buchkunst / Buchbinden (für Anfänger)

What's it about?

Instructor: Anne Deuter Course dates: Friday, July 9 to Sunday, July 11, 2027, from 10 am to 5 pm each day Binding a book can be simple or complex. No matter where you start, there is room for everyone. The three-day course focuses on traditional and experimental skills and techniques of bookbinding. The course begins casually with introductory words about the necessary materials and tools, their properties, and proper handling. Step by step, you will learn how to make your own books from scratch — starting with various types of saddle stitch binding, through chain stitch, to Japanese binding. Finally, you can use a special marbling method to color paper and linen, creating Leporello (concertina) books. The accumulated knowledge invites participants to find inspiration for their own projects and to develop further. This course is aimed at beginners. No prior knowledge is required.
