Observing Ibexes on Snowshoes

Tuesday 12 January · 10:00Mittelstation der Grossglockner Bergbahnen · kaernten

What's it about?

Where better to observe wildlife than in the Hohe Tauern National Park amidst mighty three-thousand-meter peaks and deep snow-covered landscapes? Ibexes are majestic animals, fascinating for their size, sure-footedness, breathtaking leaps on rocky walls, or fights on exposed rocks. In winter, tranquility also returns to these majestic animals, and it is easy to observe how they adapt to the challenging conditions in the high mountains. Therefore, the national park ranger is already waiting at the middle station of the Grossglockner mountain railways with rental equipment. From there, you take the tunnel train into the Fleiß Valley, where the hike begins after a brief introduction. In the Great Fleiß Valley, you can experience the winter habitat of the largest ibex colony in the Hohe Tauern National Park up close. Meeting point: 10:00 AM, middle station of the Grossglockner mountain railways Opening hours: The tour takes place every Tuesday from December 29, 2026, to March 30, 2027. Suitable for: persons aged 10 and above
