Observing Ibexes on Snowshoes

Tuesday 5 January · 10:00Mittelstation der Grossglockner Bergbahnen · kaernten

What's it about?

Where better to observe wildlife than in the Hohe Tauern National Park amidst mighty three-thousand-meter peaks and deep snowy landscapes? Ibexes are majestic animals, fascinating for their size, sure-footedness, breathtaking jumps on rocky walls, or fights on exposed rocks. In winter, tranquility also returns to these majestic animals, and it is easy to observe how they adapt to the challenging conditions in the high mountains. Therefore, the National Park ranger will already be waiting with rental equipment at the middle station of the Grossglockner Mountain Railways. From there, you take the tunnel train into the Fleiß Valley, where the hike begins after a brief introduction. In the Great Fleiß Valley, you can experience the winter habitat of the largest ibex colony in the Hohe Tauern National Park up close.
