She was more than a singer. She was more than an actress, writer, lyricist. She was: die KNEF. With a smoky voice and clear stance, she wrote songs that didn't want to please - but to hit home. She sang about life, aging, pain, pride, love, and disillusionment. HONEST. UNCOMFORTABLE. TOUCHING. TIMELESS.Born in the ruins of a torn world, she became a voice of longing and new beginnings. Her life was a tightrope walk - between glamour and gloom, between Berlin and Hollywood, between hope and downfall.And yet she always remained herself. A woman who didn't want to please, but needed to be heard. With this evening, we bow to 100 years of Hildegard Knef. We tell her life - in songs, in words, in memories.
