What's it about?

The current show is the eighth project in the "fokus sammlung" series, introduced in 2010. After classical themes of painting such as human image, still life, landscape, and animal depictions were covered, the focus shifted to abstract art in 2020 with the exhibition "Geometry and Concept". The current project "Material and Structure" is interested in the liberation of color, its development from object-describing local color to an autonomous medium and malleable material, as well as its substitution and abolition. This also includes the path from panel painting to object, from surface into space, which occurred in modern art and the post-war avant-garde through material painting and color painting - from Constructivism to Concrete Art and Color Field Painting to Minimal Art.
