What's it about?
With BORN TO BE CHILD, Alex Kristan presents not only a cabaret program but a way of life. One that we often forget in the 'adult mode' because the voice of reason is so loud. The perfect reason for him to persistently follow his motto 'Sensible is like dead – only beforehand.' Alex Kristan has consistently refused to grow up for over fifty years and increasingly prefers to escalate age-appropriately. In times when people sue their own reflection over body shaming, he holds up an even bigger mirror – and shows us with his own 'Born-identity' that despite responsibility, to-do lists, and social norms, it’s also okay to make faces sometimes. With a sharp eye and even sharper humor, he dissects the absurdities of modern adulthood. Men with women complexes, silver foxes with aging allergies, or the fitness craze versus the lie of 'I am always beautiful.' Not to forget the nine-eleven of the pension system, also called 'Rentenhausens Nightmare': the longevity hype and the romanticized escape 'back to nature' in the hope that the supposedly perfect world there will last a while longer. For him, being an adult does not mean fulfilling expectations and conforming to the zeitgeist, but keeping the promises made to oneself as a child. Keeping this child – and thus humor – alive within us is Alex Kristan’s universal remedy against the seriousness of life. Alex Kristan and his inner 'Rascal' as a dream team remind us that all this is not a dress rehearsal but the main event. Together, they will again make the audience laugh heartily – with heart, mind, and childlike joy. BORN TO BE CHILD is an escape route from the hamster wheel. A classic Alex Kristan program.
