Exhibition | "Protection Angel Safety Factor" by Lisa Maria Wordcel

What's it about?

The artist Lisa Maria Wordcel – awarded the Burgenland Diploma Prize 2025 – is showing her first exhibition in Burgenland, a scenographic sunbath titled Protection Angel Safety Factor. Bedroom images – borrowed from the state collection – promise bourgeois peace and retreat. With Wordcel, they become the backdrop for her still lifes. Her paintings are balanced, physically heavy, and tense. In them, everything appears less physically real than psycho-real. A space emerges from domestic intimacy, institutional order, and psychological surveillance. Lisa Maria Wordcel (*1992) lives and works in Vienna. Besides her studies in art history and classical archaeology at the University of Vienna, she completed her painting class with Henning Bohl at the University of Applied Arts Vienna in 2025. In the same year, she received artistic training at Oscar Giaconia's studio in the province of Bergamo, Italy. Duration: September 9 to November 8.
