The Kulturzentrum Mattersburg (KUZ) is a significant cultural and event center in Burgenland, built in 1976 according to the plans of architect Herwig Udo Graf in the Brutalist style. After extensive renovation work, it was reopened in 2022 and now combines modern architecture with historic charm. The building houses various facilities across 4,750 m², such as the Literaturhaus, the Provincial Archives, the Provincial Library, the Volkshochschule (adult education center), and a multifunctional foyer for exhibitions and receptions. The cultural center offers a diverse program with cabaret, concerts, and theater performances and is also a sought-after location for weddings, birthday parties, and business events. The architecture of the KUZ is considered an outstanding example of Brutalism and has been included in the virtual collection of the German Architecture Museum.
