Few works are surrounded by as many legends as Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart's Requiem, which he worked on even on his deathbed and had to leave unfinished: a moving liaison with death, a haggling and struggling for every note. Even if modern research has long since cleared away all mystical cobwebs: the fascination remains for this unique work, which Count Walsegg-Stuppach commissioned from Mozart for a lot of money through a "grey messenger" in order to pass it off as his own composition at performances in his castle... Exquisite vocal forces are also on offer when Julian Rachlin performs the Requiem with the Chamber Orchestra of Europe.
