Workshop - Intaglio Printing

What's it about?

In the intaglio printing process, indentations are made in the printing plate. Various metals such as copper, zinc, aluminum, or materials with smooth surfaces like acrylic glass or Tetra Pak can be used as printing plates. After complete inking, the surface is cleaned and the ink remains in the indentations. During the printing process, the damp handmade paper, under high pressure, pulls the ink out of the indentations, creating a slight relief. The raised, inked areas are characteristic of this technique.
