What's it about?

In 1990s Tehran, literature professor Azar Nafisi secretly forms a reading circle with six female students. Together, they discover forbidden works of Western literature and find courage, freedom, and hope amidst political repression. This moving drama, starring Golshifteh Farahani and Zar Amir, premiered at the Rome Film Fest in 2024, where it won the Audience Award and the Special Jury Prize for its female cast.
