What's it about?

Concert opera has already achieved a traditional status at the Tyrolean Festival. To honor this, the festival is expanding its winter season program and will perform Verdi's Nabucco in mid-December. This early opera marked Giuseppe Verdi's breakthrough onto the international stage; at the same time, it became a musical symbol of the Italian Risorgimento. For the performance, the festival has assembled a top-class cast around Anastasia Bartoli, who is regarded among connoisseurs as one of the outstanding interpreters of the demanding role of Abigaille. Thus, the start of the winter season is entirely dedicated to 'Viva Verdi' — the famous cry that once stood both for the composer and for the hope of a united Italy.
