The music pavilion in Kurpark Seefeld becomes the summery hub of a colourful and entertaining concert programme; the concerts by the local Bürgermusikkapelle Seefeld are particularly popular. The beginnings of this band are presumed to be in the war years of the Tyrolean freedom struggles around 1809. Many so-called "Feldkapellen" (field bands) or "Schützenkapellen" (riflemen's bands) formed in the Tyrolean region, which went to war with the riflemen's companies and mostly remained inactive in the subsequent years. The current band is likely to have reformed between 1840 and 1850, as the first documentary mention of the Seefeld band dates from this period. Over 150 years have passed since its founding, and music is still made with joy and commitment. Whether in smaller ensembles or in the "large" band formation, everything from traditional brass music to modern film scores is rehearsed and played under the direction of bandleader Tony Millner.
