Grenzenlos Scharf – Quantenchemie trifft Mikroskopie und Lithographie

Grenzenlos Scharf – Quantenchemie trifft Mikroskopie und Lithographie

Friday 20 November · 19:00Klostersaal · oberoesterreich

What's it about?

The lecture explains why the Nobel Prize in Chemistry was hardly surprising in retrospect: the key to overcoming the classical resolution limit in microscopy lay in the quantum chemical properties of dye molecules. The same principle is now used to control photochemical reactions with unprecedented precision. This allows structures to be created that are significantly smaller than the wavelength of the light used – a breakthrough that also shifts the boundaries of three-dimensional photolithography. Thomas Klar is a professor of applied physics and head of the Institute of Applied Physics at Johannes Kepler University Linz.
