82nd Wels Poetry Slam

What's it about?

The second-oldest active Poetry Slam in Upper Austria is entering a new round! Join us at Medien Kultur Haus Wels as the competition for victory, the audience's love, and eternal fame takes place again. Together with our dear partners from Verein Wortwerkler |wortwerkler.at. What is a Poetry Slam? A Poetry Slam is a performative poetry competition for the favor of the audience. Young poets take the stage and try within a 6-minute time limit, using all (legal) means, to convince a lay jury from the audience that only they deserve the title "Winner of the Poetry Slam at Medien Kultur Haus Wels." Whether this is done in a funny, loud, quiet, lyrical, moody, or other manner is entirely up to the performers and results in a maximum genre diversity throughout the evening. Open list! In addition to invited guests from home and abroad, we always keep spots open for motivated locals — so if you've always wanted to perform on stage and read your texts there, contact us (Wortwerkler) or sign up spontaneously on the evening up to 30 minutes before the show starts. The rules are short and simple: bring two self-written texts, no singing, no props/costumes. Performing as a team of 2 or more people is also possible. Doors open: from 7:00 PM Start: 7:30 PM Tickets: Regular: €10 Klimaticket: €9 Students, 4youCard, Ö1-Intro: €7 Kulturpass (Hunger for Art and Culture): free entry
