Commemoration Stolpersteine for Steyr
What's it about?
The "Stolpersteine for Steyr" initiative commemorates people from Steyr who were persecuted, expelled or murdered during National Socialism with five new Stolpersteine (stumbling stones). As part of a public commemoration ceremony, Stolpersteine will be laid for Marie Garde, Julius and Hedwig Stössl, as well as Rosa Eisler and Margarete Füreder. The memorial stones mark the last voluntarily chosen residences of those affected and make their stories visible in the cityscape. Stolpersteine stand for remembrance, responsibility and engagement with local history. They bring the names of the victims back into the everyday life of the city and set a sign against forgetting.
