In this course, you will learn how to effectively protect yourself from the dangers of Internet crime and navigate the web more securely. You will find out how criminals operate – from subscription traps and scams on classified ad portals to identity theft, malware, and fake phishing messages. The workshop provides you with concrete protective measures and shows how to recognize fraudulent offers, manipulated emails, or fake phone calls in a timely manner. Step by step, you will learn to practically apply important security features. This includes activating the built-in phishing protection in browsers like Google Chrome and Mozilla Firefox, as well as checking suspicious email attachments for viruses using online services like VirusTotal.
