Dr. Ralf Gaffga Opening speeches by guests of honour Official opening of the South America enclosure A modern animal world has been created in a central area of the zoo grounds, combining ecological responsibility and innovative visitor management, offering our animals a natural home: An integrated indoor bathing pond and an outdoor enclosure of approx. 1,000 m² with its own waterfall offer the animals a species-appropriate retreat amidst natural dense vegetation. For our visitors, we have merged architecture and nature. Generous glass fronts and a walk-through tunnel allow unique insights into both the indoor and outdoor areas. This proximity enables us to convey complex ecological relationships and the importance of species protection even more vividly to our visitors.
