What's it about?

"Art and Enjoyment" in the Advent season of the Mühlviertel. Under this motto, the Waldhausener Advent takes place on December 5th, 6th, and 8th, 2026. In the unmistakable atmosphere of the Waldhausen Abbey, you can watch demonstrations of almost forgotten crafts such as the last rural beeswax candle maker in Austria, turners, glassblowers, ceramic painters, carpet weavers, and a blacksmith, and purchase genuine artworks. You will surely find some Christmas gifts among handcrafted Christmas decorations, soaps, candles, textiles, alpaca products, and much more. During the walk through the lovingly decorated market, you will be accompanied by the sounds of the tower blowers, and on the stage, folk music ensembles will set the Advent mood. Culinary delights from the Mühlviertel such as freshly baked bread, smoked fish, surbratl (roast pork), bratwurst, farmers' donuts, Christmas baking, mulled wine, and punch are not to be missed.
