Photo: Pfarre WaldhausenWaldhausen, Upper Austria
Particularly noteworthy is the Renaissance portal on the south side. The parish church, which stands like a divine fortress protectively above the market town of Waldhausen, was significantly redesigned in the nave (1610-1612) under Provost Hermann Partenreuther by the Linz master builder Hiob Eder. The iron-clad west gate, which is pierced by the halberd blows of the Hussites and the bullet impacts of the French, shows that the church was repeatedly exposed to enemy attacks. Inside, a bright 3-aisled space opens up, illuminated by large Gothic windows. The slender, soaring octagonal pillars support the ceiling, which is artfully equipped with granite ribs. Opening hours: Daily from 7:00 AM - 7:00 PM. Guided tours by appointment at the parish office. Waldhausen im Strudengau is located in a charming, gently rolling hilly landscape. The swimming lake, wheelchair-accessible hiking trails, wellness and cultural offerings make your vacation an unforgettable experience!
