What's it about?

In the "Contemporary History MUSEUM", voestalpine commemorates the NS forced laborers of the Hermann Göring Reichswerke in Linz. The museum is a vibrant place of remembrance and active engagement with a dark chapter of Austrian contemporary history. The focus is on the forced laborers of the Hermann Göring Reichswerke in Linz - their fates and life stories. The Hermann Göring Werke shaped the city of Linz structurally and economically. They sustainably changed the social fabric of the city. The traces left in public spaces are still evident today. The effects on the victims of the past, the coercive nature and the extent of the labor deployment, however, were suppressed for a long time and are virtually not present in general consciousness. To change that is a central concern of this museum.
