Nederlands Dans Theater-NDT 1
What's it about?
Jiří Kylián - Crystal Pite - Hofesh Shechter Three choreographers, three perspectives on our present: The Nederlands Dans Theater – NDT 1 presents a triple bill that combines poetic reflection, political sharpness, and physical intensity into a highly concentrated evening. With Mémoires d’Oubliettes, Jiří Kylián highlights his choreographic legacy once again: a delicate, melancholic engagement with memory and what disappears over time. A disturbingly precise power game behind closed doors is then presented by Crystal Pite with The Statement. A new work by Hofesh Shechter adds a contemporary, physically charged perspective to the evening — open, pulsating, in the process of formation. As an influential innovator of classical dance, Jiří Kylián shaped NDT for decades as Artistic Director and resident choreographer, leading the company to international prominence. With a unique approach to dance and theater, Crystal Pite is one of the most significant choreographers of our time. Her company Kidd Pivot is known for its innovative, cross-genre work on existential themes of power, vulnerability, and humanity. As Artistic Director of Hofesh Shechter Company, Hofesh Shechter is considered one of the "hottest artists in the British dance scene" (New York Times). With his powerful works characterized by energetic movement language, he works as a guest choreographer for renowned dance companies as well as theater and opera productions worldwide.
