Exhibition: Stylianos Schicho

What's it about?

Stylianos Schicho, born in 1977 in Vienna, studied painting and graphics at the University of Applied Arts under Prof. Wolfgang Herzig. He lives and works in Vienna. Stylianos Schicho is fascinated by the irrationality of interpersonal encounters. Drawing from situations in his life, his protagonists, more or less abstract, emerge from charcoal and acrylic on large-format canvases, engaging in action and reaction with each other, creating new, thought-provoking constellations. The focus is on the balancing act between closeness and distance, as well as intimacy and isolation. The artist combines formal and thematic elements through the use of numerous metaphors, pointing to discrepancies between the individual and the collective. OPENING RECEPTION: Thursday, October 15, 2026, at 7:00 PM with introductory words by Roman Grabner, Director of BRUSEUM, Neue Galerie Graz. DURATION: October 17 – November 28, 2026.
