After me, the flood! In a world on the brink of collapse, dance becomes an act of resistance. In this new work, the currently most popular collective in the international dance scene, (LA)HORDE, takes the audience into an unvarnished, yet hopeful engagement with the present. The title Après moi, le déluge ('After me, the flood') is inspired by a quote from Louis XV. A phrase claimed by many generations and which, in the face of political and social crises, climate catastrophe, and wars, takes on new urgency. But instead of succumbing to decay, the company calls for embracing the contradictions of our time and creating new narratives. In their piece, dance becomes the language of resistance, as the question of the future is no longer suppressed but collectively negotiated. (LA)HORDE, consisting of Marine Brutti, Jonathan Debrouwer, and Arthur Harel, has been leading the Ballet national de Marseille since 2019. Since its founding in 2013, the collective has questioned the political dimension of dance by exploring various forms from rave to traditional dances — always very much in tune with the times. In their works, the artists address the dynamics of dance in the digital age and develop the concept of 'Post-Internet Dances.'
