The "Kerwe" (traditional fair) name dates back to 1839, when the annual Ludwig's Market was set for the last Sunday in August and officially approved in honor of King Ludwig I. The central meeting point of the Kerwe is still the village center at St. Peter and Paul Church with its around ten serving stations. Live bands play on Fridays and Saturdays at the Förderverein, and every second year (always in even-numbered years) the Geinsheimer Bacchus is crowned. The Wein- und Ludwigskerwe is the first wine festival where the new wine of the vintage is already served. Cheers. The Palatinate.
