Trumpeter Miles Davis and saxophonist John Coltrane were outstanding, influential soloists and bandleaders in jazz history. From 1955 to 1960, Coltrane was a member of the Miles Davis Quintet/Sextet. During these years, many classic jazz albums were recorded, such as "Round Midnight" and "Kind of Blue," which is considered the best-selling jazz recording of all time. These two jazz icons would have celebrated their 100th birthdays in 2026, providing a reason for the culture initiative FREIRAUM to dedicate a special evening to these giants with renowned experts in this music. The American trumpeter Kevin Dean, a true jazz veteran, has been one of the world's leading trumpeters and jazz educators for four decades. Kirk MacDonald has established a reputation as Canada's leading saxophonist. Martin Sasse from Cologne is among Europe's top pianists. Italian bassist Aldo Zunino has performed several times in Bruck, and drummer Bernd Reiter, winner of the Hans Koller Prize in 2006, has hosted many international jazz greats in Bruck. This outstanding lineup of musicians from the USA, Canada, Germany, Italy, and Austria is a true all-star selection, performing on November 4th at 8 p.m. in the Seidl-Keller.
