What's it about?

In 2026, Galerie Gmünd will be occupied by architects and artist Thomas Scherzer. From May 1 to September 27, 2026, open daily from 10 am to 1 pm and 3 pm to 6 pm. The interactive installations, sculptures, and design objects by artist and architect Thomas Scherzer invite visitors to actively experience space. At the center is a new work, specially developed for Gmünd — created with Willem van Engen and Travis Dent: Fourteen fern-like elements that respond to the proximity and movements of visitors, opening and closing, continuously reshaping the space. Entry makes visitors part of a living system that immediately makes questions of access, control, and belonging tangible. The exhibition is complemented by the interactive flower landscape "Blumenveld," the kinetic sculpture "Rollin'," and the inflatable installation "Rolrups" — a playful invitation to experience art with all the senses.
