
The Museum Liaunig presents this year's collection presentation of modern and contemporary art in its large hall under the title "(K)ein Begriff" (No Concept/Not a Concept). Curated by Alexandra Schantl, the exhibition is dedicated to a topic that is as central as it is open: sculpture. From the observation that the concept of sculpture has increasingly expanded since the 20th century and can hardly be clearly defined today, the show illuminates its development from both historical and contemporary perspectives. Since Marcel Duchamp's Readymades and Rosalind E. Krauss's theoretical considerations, sculpture has been considered an open field that encompasses a wide variety of materials, media, and forms of expression. The exhibition spans from classic positions of Austrian sculpture after 1945 – including works by Fritz Wotruba and his circle – to contemporary approaches that understand sculpture as a process, idea, or spatial experience...
