Die Udo Jürgens Story - His Life, His Love, His Music!
What's it about?
Since ten years, a triumph! "DIE UDO JÜRGENS STORY – His Life, His Love, His Music" crowns its ongoing success series in 2027 with an exclusive anniversary edition. For over a decade and with nearly 600 concerts, this sensitive and at the same time captivating homage to the grandmaster of German-language entertainment music has delighted audiences in the most renowned concert halls in Germany and Austria and reaches a cross-generational audience. The 2027 anniversary tour features new facets of an unforgettable career as well as additional hits, rarely performed musical gems, and new, moving as well as funny stories and anecdotes from the personal records of the unforgettable star. "DIE UDO JÜRGENS STORY" takes the audience on an emotional journey through the life and work of one of Europe's greatest entertainers. About 350,000 spectators have already experienced this homage and celebrated it with standing ovations. Thus, "DIE UDO JÜRGENS STORY" is the most successful and most performed tribute show about the music legend. In 2027, performances in Germany and Austria will again be on the schedule — including numerous cities where the show will take place for the first time. The brilliant duo Benesch and Pecoraro, directed by Erich Furrer, will ensure an evening full of memories and surprises, making every Udo Jürgens fan's heart beat faster. An impressive selection of his immortal classics will be presented: "Merci Cherie," "Ein ehrbares Haus," "Ich war noch niemals in New York," "Griechischer Wein," "Aber bitte mit Sahne," "Mit 66 Jahren," "Heute beginnt der Rest Deines Lebens," "Liebe ohne Leiden," "Das ist dein Tag," "Was wichtig ist," "Und immer wieder geht die Sonne auf" — and many more... For the anniversary edition, Mario Pecoraro, an artist of exceptional class, was brought on board. He has performed for years with musical giants like die SEER and Rainhard Fendrich. The internationally active pianist, singer, songwriter, and composer is able to bring a new and unheard dimension of passion, joy, and poetry to the unforgettable hits of Udo Jürgens with his uniquely sensitive, warm, and at the same time electrifying voice. His interpretation is genuine, his singing authentic. His virtuosic playing at the piano is characterized by unmatched dynamics, power, and lightness. A performer who sings from his soul into the hearts of people. He does not try to imitate Udo Jürgens but aims to honor his work respectfully — just as Udo Jürgens wished: "I leave everything to you!" A special dramaturgical highlight is the narrative accompaniment by the award-winning film and theater actress Gabriela Benesch. With great sensitivity and fine humor, she brings Udo Jürgens’ personality to life, tells moving anecdotes, and provides insights into the life of the exceptional artist through personal records. With charming delicacy and masterful skill, she sketches situations and characters so truthfully that Udo Jürgens’ life — from youth to old age — seems within reach of the audience, as if they were part of his story. Of course, a few "delicacies" and funny incidents, which Gabriela Benesch experienced with Udo Jürgens herself, are also included, as she met the great artist several times, even in very private settings. The idea for the show "UDO JÜRGENS STORY" arose in 2017 through close collaboration between Gabriela Benesch and her husband, the renowned director, actor, writer, and producer Erich Furrer. Together, they developed a stage format that accompanies the audience from the beginnings of Udo Jürgens’ career to his late artistic work, providing deep insights into his career, values, and life.
