This hike to the Gertrusk focuses on the weather in all its facets. Hardly any other mountain in Central Carinthia allows one to experience summer weather events as intensely as the Saualm. The elongated mountain range marks the border to the dry Lavanttal and is considered an Austria-wide thunderstorm hotspot. In the cooler months, foehn storms repeatedly sweep over the gentle peaks, which often hold high fog in the valleys for days in winter. Mountain weather expert Andreas Mannsberger explains these phenomena, demonstrates the early detection of dangerous weather conditions, and provides useful tips on weather apps. The hike takes place in almost any weather! Meeting point: 10 am, Weisssbergerhütte, Weibergeralm 3, 9374 Unterwietingberg Duration: approx. 3.5 hours, pure walking time 2.5 hours, - 5.5 km, approx. 400m elevation gain Price: 10,-
