What's it about?

Austria's oldest inhabited high-altitude settlement impresses with Mediterranean charm and is known as the "City of Light," because in the 19th century, chemist, inventor, and manufacturer Karl Auer von Welsbach settled here. He is credited with transforming the old ironworking hammer mills on the Gurk into thriving industrial plants. No registration required. Schedule: 11:30 am, meeting point in front of the Auer-von-Welsbach Museum, Burggasse 8, 9330 Althofen. Duration: 1.5 hours.
