Exhibition KARIN PLIEM – HORTUS DELICIARUM In her five-part installation in the garden shed of Schloss Ebenau, Karin Pliem guides us through the vital order of the material world into the "seventh heaven," which according to Aristotle marks the boundary between the outermost sphere of the perceptible world and the invisible spiritual realm — a timeless state of density, relationship, and resonance. The path begins in an environment called "Garden of Delights" (hortus deliciarum), composed of real, plastically arranged natural objects and virtually painterly articulated images. The image opposite the entrance shows a wooden bridge leading through a thicket of blooming plants and animals associated with the element water to a river that is beyond the other shore. In Karin Pliem's "Hortus Deliciarum," a title referencing an encyclopedia written around 1180 by Abbess Herrad of Landsberg, there resonate beyond this...
