What's it about?

On the occasion of Hellmut Bruch's 90th birthday, the Museum Liaunig is dedicating a comprehensive retrospective to the internationally renowned artist. Curated by Günther Dankl, the exhibition honors one of the most important representatives of concrete-constructive art in the German-speaking world. Since the late 1960s, Hellmut Bruch has pursued an artistic path of exceptional consistency. His work is based on two fundamental principles: reduction to the essential and openness of form as an invitation to independent thinking. From this attitude, a distinctive visual language has developed that combines mathematical order, philosophical reflection, and sensual perception. The retrospective traces the development from early experimental works to current pieces. The focus is on sculptures and plastic works made of stainless steel and acrylic glass, materials whose special properties Bruch has explored for decades.
