What's it about?

(Since December 14, 2022, as a permanent exhibition) In 2018, when she was confronted with her own mortality for the first time due to a serious illness, Burgis Paier began to stage her grand theater of the world. She has interpreted and portrayed 350 personalities from the broad field of art and cultural history who have been influential in her life and art: artists, writers, composers, philosophers, musicians, singers, fashion designers, actors, freedom fighters, politicians, explorers, natural scientists, and even fairy-tale characters. The costume designer and puppet maker Paier has not created puppets or marionettes for a stage show, nor has she produced traditional sculptures or statues as a visual artist. Instead, she has created hybrids that cleverly oscillate between two forms of presentation and exhibition: half sculpture, half puppet, and more.
