DUO HAWELKA - Between Beisl and Poetry, Seriousness and Schmäh

What's it about?

Under the title "Between Beisl and Poetry, Seriousness and Schmäh," the duo Hawelka embarks on a musical journey through Austrian songcraft of the past decades. The evening is a tribute to Georg Danzer, André Heller, Arik Brauer, Helmut Qualtinger, and many others who have shaped Austrian music history. The duo was founded in 2025 and consists of Mano (Manfred Martin Sadjak), vocals/guitar, and Heinz Michael (Gerersdorfer), percussion/vocals. Together, they revive well-known and lesser-known songs in new, pared-down arrangements — close to the lyrics, finely grooved, and with plenty of space for the stories contained in these songs. The name of the duo deliberately references the legendary Café Hawelka — the place where artists, musicians, poets, and thinkers met over decades. In this spirit, the duo Hawelka also sees itself as a musical meeting place between song and narration, past and present.
